BPOM Investigates Beeru Stevia's Zero Calorie Claim after Doctive Lab Test, Sales Temporarily Suspended

The controversy over Beeru Stevia's zero calorie claim heated up after health content creator Doctor Detective, known as Doktif, uploaded the results of an independent laboratory test on October 28 2026. The test results indicated the alleged content of artificial sweeteners such as sucralose and neotam which were not listed on the product packaging. Doktif conveyed his findings to the public through his social media channels and received widespread attention.

The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) responded to this polemic by stating that it was taking samples and testing the Beeru Stevia product on October 29 2026. BPOM emphasized that it would follow up on the test results in accordance with applicable regulations if a discrepancy was found between the packaging label and the actual content. The public is asked to wait for official results rather than drawing their own conclusions.

Meanwhile, Beeru Indonesia announced a temporary suspension of sales of their stevia products while verifying with manufacturing partners. The company stated its commitment to transparency and consumer safety.
