A total of 19 people — 18 adults and 1 minor — were arrested by the police during a demonstration commemorating the Youth Pledge on Wednesday (28/10/2026) in the HI Roundabout–Dukuh Atas area, Jakarta. They were released at around 14.00 WIB Thursday (29/10/2026), almost 24 hours after being arrested. The minor was handed over to the PPA/PPO Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya.
Police confiscated firecrackers, sharp weapons and 12 cans of paint suspected of being used for vandalism. The 19 people were charged under Articles 256 and 354 of the Criminal Code. LBH Jakarta assessed that the arrest was forced with weak legal construction.
The action on October 28 was also attended by a number of public figures. Actor Reza Rahadian took to the HI Roundabout to mingle with the protesters, while singer Eva Celia was present wearing a T-shirt that read "Join Us. We Fight for a Clean Government."
Separately, Polda Metro Jaya apologized because its members prohibited journalists from covering the October 28 demonstration. Head of Public Relations, Police Commissioner. Budi Hermanto said this was a communication problem and was used as evaluation material.
